What are Previous Steelers running back Sidney Thornton passes on at age 68

Sidney Thornton, an esteemed individual from two Super Bowl-winning groups for the Steelers, has died, the group reported on Wednesday night. Thornton was 68 years of age.
Chosen by the Steelers in the second round of the 1977 NFL Draft, Thornton was brought to Pittsburgh to assist with supplementing veteran running backs Franco Harris and Rough Bleier. Thornton flourished in that job while assisting the Steelers with winning their third Super Bowl of the 10 years toward the finish of the 1978 season.

With Harris managing an early season injury, Thornton partook in an expanded job in the Steelers' offense in 1979. He set professional highs in hurrying yards and scoring runs while averaging 5 yards-per-convey. Thronton scored 10 complete scores that season while assisting the Steelers in bringing home a 6th successive division championship.

Against Miami in the divisional round, Thornton acquired 86 all-out yards while scoring his most memorable professional postseason score. He got a 22-yard pass in Super Bowl XIV as the Steelers routed the Rams to catch the establishment's fourth Lombardi Prize.
An actual back, Thornton played his whole six-year vacation with the Steelers. He scored 25 scores (counting the postseason) over that range while averaging 4.2 yards per convey.
